Camp Dixie is a great place to be this summer! During summer camp we
laugh, play, learn, and explore - all because of God's great love for us. Our
trained counselors lead each of our programs with a focus on God's word, on
safety, and on having a great time.
Activities that you can participate in at Camp Dixie include: swimming,
canoeing, Bible Study, archery, challenge course, arts and crafts, and
campfires. Other activities may include model rocketry, large group games,
sand volleyball and many more!
Camp Dixie is located on Perdido Bay, about an hour from Mobile, Alabama. Camp
Dixie has been serving congregations in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi and
Louisiana with retreat facilities and summer camp since 1951,
A lot has changed since that time but our focus and commitment to spreading
the word of Jesus Christ hasn't!
Summer Camp at Camp Dixie is available for children grades K-12. Week-long and
week-end sessions run during the months of June and July.
2008 Summer
Camp Schedule Changes
This year we have made some changes to the Camp Dixie
schedule compared to previous summers. Here's a quick rundown of items you
should know if you are used to the old schedule.
-
Plus camps have been put on
hiatus. This summer we made the decision to eliminate the
Sunday-Sunday "Plus" camps for various reasons. Check in for all week long
camps will begin on Sunday at 3:30 PM, and the sessions will end on Friday at
11:00 AM.
-
All Mini-Camps will start at
6:30 PM on their respective start day. This way parents will be able
to get their children to camp, and not have to miss work. Mini-Camps include:
Rocket, Kingdom One-Four, Mini-Jubilee, Jr. High Weekend. All sessions will
end at 11:00 am on the final day of the camp.
-
Rates for summer camp have
increased $10 for week-long camps and $5 for mini-camps. For the first
time in at least 3 years Camp Dixie has chosen to increase summer camp rates.
Our costs have risen in order to run summer camp. Actually if you factor in
inflation, the cost for camp is the same as it was in 2004.
-
The deposit amount has
changed to $35 per-session per-camper.
The deposit you must pay when you send in your
registration has been changed to better reflect the amount of work that is
done to process each registration.
-
Conqueror Three starts on
Saturday and ends on Thursday. In order to avoid scheduling conflicts
with the Fourth of July holiday, we are starting this camp one day early, and
ending it one day early.
-
The Summer camp brochure had an
incorrect date for Conqueror Two. The correct dates are June 15-20,
2008.
Though we have made some changes, we are still committed to providing the best
Christian summer camp experience that we possibly can. Please contact us if
you have any questions!
